Springs, Kansas for a time.

Ira Monnett Passes Away
Ira Monnett was born in Coatsville, Indiana, April 6, 1853 and passed
to his reward January 20, 1929 at Eufaula, Oklahoma, being75 years, nine
months and fourteen days of age and was the youngest and last survivor of
a family of thirteen children.
He was married to Miss Melissa Ann Todd on January 11, 1872 in Putnam
County, Indiana. They came to Pursell, Oklahoma in 1900 and to Eufaula
in 1910.
There were six children born to this home. Brother Monnett is survived
by his wife and three children; Mr. L.T. Monnett of Norman, Mrs. Zella
Snodgrass of Nowata, and Mr. V.E. Monnett of Norman.
There are also nine grand children and three great-grand children.
Brother Monnett was converted and joined the Methodist church when a
young man. He served the church as Sunday School Super- intendent
and was a Steward twenty-three years, and was an honorary member of the
official board of the Eufaula Methodist Church.
Brother Monnett was truly a beloved citizen.
He established the laundry business in Eufaula and was an active and
successful business man until he retired about two years ago.
Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church at ten o'clock
Monday morning by his pastor, Rev. W.O. Butcher. There
was a large and beautiful floral offering. Burial was made in the Eufaula
cemetery.
The Journal joins the many friends in extending sympathy to the family in
their bereavement.
He was married to Melissa Ann Todd (daughter of
David Todd and Delilah Nichols) on Jan 11 1872 in Hendricks
Co. Indiana. He was engaged in Hendircks Co. Records Volume 7 Page 418.
Melissa Ann Todd was born on Sep 26 1851 in Cloverdale, Putnam Co.,
IN. She died in 1940 in Norman Oklahoma. Ira Monnett and Melissa Ann Todd had
the following children:

Ella Boyd Monnett was born on Sep 18 1875 in Putnam Co., IN. She died
on Mar 13 1879 in Putnam Co., IN. She was christened in Canaan Church Cemetery
near Fillmore, IN.
